(Linz, March 12, 2013) The accent is on discovering, learning and having fun together as a family group this weekend at the Ars Electronica Center. Family Days on March 16-17, 2013 will feature informative guided tours of the AEC’s exhibits and a richly diversified program in Deep Space, where visitors can take a fascinating 3-D journey through the universe, draw sea creatures and witness how they come to life, rescue a South Sea island from destruction, and behold breathtaking feats by extreme sports stars.

Here’s an overview of the Family Days lineup:

Family Tour

Saturday & Sunday / 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM

The Family Tour is an eventful excursion through the Ars Electronica Center. Young and old alike get interesting insights into our high-tech world as well as the outlook for our future. One stop along the way will be in RoboLab, where you’re sure to have fun interacting with a telecommunications android and a Japanese baby seal robot. In FabLab, you can get hands-on experience with a 3-D printer.

Deep Space Family
Saturday & Sunday / 11 AM-6 PM

A program jam-packed with fun family-friendly features is on tap this weekend Deep Space, where no fewer than eight projectors paint breathtaking high-definition 16×9-meter imagery across the floor and wall. “Uniview for Kids” invites young people to embark on a three-dimensional journey across the universe. In “Fantasia 3-D – Interactive Worlds of Play,” you can draw fish in an aquarium and then bring them to life, or save a colorful South Sea island from a wicked pirate! If adrenaline kicks are what you’re after, “X-treme Sports” have got you covered with in-your-face footage of death-defying skydivers, mountain bikers and skiers.

“Uniview for Kids” starts at 11 AM and 3:30 PM, “X-treme Sports” goes down at 11:30 AM and 5:30 PM, and “Fantasia 3-D – Interactive Worlds of Play” is set for 3 PM.
