(Linz, 13.8.2020) Get to know the first and so far only Syrian cosmonaut in conversation with one of the most important Egyptian street art artists and enjoy when Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russel Davies perform music by Philip Glass and John Cage at a live concert on the Grand Piano. Even though the Ars Electronica Center is once again inviting visitors to come and see its exhibitions in form of pre-booked guided tours, Ars Electronica Home Delivery will once again deliver an exciting mix of art, technology and society directly to the living room, kitchen, children’s room, balcony or terrace during its 16th week. Viewers at home are cordially invited to ask questions via YouTube commentary or to join in the conversation via Skype.

Arts and Space Collide – Cosmonaut Muhammed Ahmed Fares in conversation with the artist Ganzeer

On Friday, Ars Electronica reaches for the stars at 3 p.m. Together with spaceEU, an EU project that aims to familiarize young people with the diverse possibilities of space exploration and is aimed at young people interested in space travel, Ars Electronica Home Delivery is presenting a special session: Cosmonaut Muhammed Ahmed, the first and so far only Syrian in space, will discuss with Egyptian artist Ganzeer, who is on the Huffington Post’s list of “25 Street Artists from Around the World Who Are Shaking Up Public Art” about the overlap between art and space exploration and how children are inspired to question and research things. The talk, in Arabic with English subtitles, will be moderated by Ghina M. Halabi, space scientist at the University of Cambridge.
Concert: New York, N.Y. / Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies

Attention: The concert scheduled for August 21 has been postponed: Classical music afficionados will now be able to enjoy the concert on Friday evening, August 21, 2020, when Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies take their seats at the Bösendorfer 290 Imperial CEUS. Under the title New York, N.Y. the two musicians will play The Seasons by John Cage and Excerpts from Mishima by Philip Glass, arranged for Maki Namekawa by Michael Riesman. Cori O’lan contributes the accompanying visualizations, which react to the music in real time. Anyone who would like to chat a little with Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies is invited to join in via Skype or ask questions via YouTube commentary.
