(Linz, April 11, 2024) On 16 April, Dennis Russell Davies celebrates his 80th birthday and on Sunday, April 21, together with Maki Namekawa, invites guests to two benefit concerts in aid of cancer research. In Deep Space 8K at the Ars Electronica Center, the duo will perform music by Bedřich Smetana, John Cage, Laurie Anderson, Philip Glass, Arvo Pärt and W.A. Mozart. Artistic real-time visualisations by Cori O’Lan accompany the musical performance.
With the purchase of a seated ticket for 50 euros or a standing ticket for 15 euros, visitors support the “Hodgkin Long Term Survivorship” project at the Ordensklinikum Linz. Tickets can be purchased online via KUPFTicket.at and at the museum ticket office in the Ars Electronica Center.
About the “Hodgkin Long Term Survivorship”
This type of lymphoma has a high cure rate. Studies in recent decades have therefore focussed primarily on reducing treatment-related side effects and long-term consequences. Nevertheless, there are patients who have beaten the cancer and completed their treatment without measurable organ damage but are still unable to regain their former vigour and zest for life. As part of the “Hodgkin Long Term Survivorship” project, the aim is to decipher the often varying causes in these patients in order to provide them with individual support programmes.
