For Seniors: A Journey in Pictures from Microscopic to Galactic

For Seniors: A Journey in Pictures from Microscopic to Galactic
Friday, May 4 & Friday, May 18, 2012 / Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, May 2, 2012) Every first and third Friday of the month, the Ars Electronica Center offers a themed tour custom-tailored to seniors. The guides make a concerted effort to dispense with English-language high-tech jargon, and to allow plenty of time for tour group members to pose questions and to discuss their experiences and impressions. On tap on May 4 & 18 are a journey in pictures—impressive images taken with a microscope and a telescope.

Fascinating Imagery

The human eye is an extremely highly developed sensory organ; nevertheless, our perceptual abilities are limited. Both senior tours in May feature sights that would have been impossible to see without technical aids. Participants will use a microscope to behold structures measuring only a fraction of a millimeter, and marvel at fascinating photographs of distant galaxies taken with telescopes.
