Big Turnout at the Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, June 29, 2012) Shortly before schools close for summer break here, crowds have been storming the Ars Electronica Center. This past Tuesday alone, attendance at the Museum of the Future was 1,221. Reservations for upcoming dates have been pouring in as well. During summer vacation, the AEC is offering a wide-ranging program for young and old alike.

Excellent Attendance

A few days before school’s out for summer, there’s been a regular run on the Ars Electronica Center. This past Tuesday, the AEC hosted 1,221 visitors in 53 tour groups. A class from Harrisonburg, Virginia came the furthest. “Next week as well, we’re expecting lots of school groups. The week after that, several child care centers are bringing their charges by, and then come the Bavarian schools and other community summer school programs. The reservation situation is outstanding,” said a very enthusiastic Christoph Kremer, director of the Ars Electronica Center.

Multifaceted Summer Program

There’s a wonderfully diverse lineup of activities on tap throughout the summer at the Ars Electronica Center. Here’s a rundown on some of the highlights:
Interactive-Creative Days every Tuesday feature fascinating workshops for youngsters age 6-14. There’s something for everyone: construct illuminated letters and create soundcloudminiatures for the voestalpine Klangwolke, design your own action figures and program Lego robots.
During July and August, youngsters age 5-14 can attend Summer Camp on two consecutive mornings at the Ars Electronica Center. Use plastiline modeling clay to make glowing lamps, program robots, or join sound artist Marco Palewicz in the AEC’s in-house SoundLab where you can create your own samples and sound collages that you and 100,000 other people just might hear again in September at the voestalpine Klangwolke. Klangwolke Weekend Specials on two summer weekends are a great opportunity to make your own personal contribution to this year’s voestalpine Klangwolke. You can construct illuminated letters and create soundcloudminiatures that will be part of the big show.
