Deep Space LIVE: Together We Are Strong – Interactive Galaxies
Thursday, November 8, 2012 / 8-9 PM / Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, November 5, 2012) Colliding galaxies form the epicenter of the next Deep Space LIVE this Thursday, November 11 at 8 PM. Astrophotographer Dietmar Hager will show how galaxies exert mutual attraction via gravitation and just what happens when they finally meet! Deep Space at the Ars Electronica Center is also the go-to place to behold the world’s largest group portrait, a 16×9-meter mosaic made up of countless snapshots taken by shutterbugs who attended the voestalpine Klangwolke last September. NOTE: this extraordinary work of collective photography can be viewed free of charge on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 4:30-5 PM and on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays at 5:30-6 PM.

The Big Picture – The biggest group picture of the world

The popping of flashbulbs was tremendous on the evening of September 1, 2012. Tens of thousands of spectators pulled out simultaneously their digital camera or their smartphone during the voestalpine Klangwolke in the Danube Park, shot at the same time a picture of their surroundings and sent them to Ars Electronica. The result is the largest snapshot that ever existed, and which is now available inside the Deep Space as a high-resolution mosaic to interested visitors. Ask an infotrainer if you want to zoom into this unique collection of photos or just want to see the whole big picture. Additionally this group picture can be seen for free during following times at the Deep Space of the Ars Electronica Center: Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday: from 4:30 PM till 5 PM and Saturday, Sunday, public holiday: from 5:30 PM till 6 PM.
