Robots, Microcosmonauts and Awesome Snowboard Action

(Linz, March 26, 2013) Programming robots, marvelous microscopes and exciting snowboard stunts are the featured attractions at Ars Electronica Center Linz this Thursday, March 28, 2013. Two workshops from 10:30 AM to 2:30 PM will offer authoritative introductions to robotics and microscopy that are as entertaining as they are informative. Kids can learn how to program Lego NXT robots or use powerful high-tech optics to behold fascinating details of the microcosm. At the next Deep Space LIVE at 8 PM, the spotlight is on snowboarding thrills and chills. The film “The Art of Flight” will accompany snowboard legend Travis Rice and some of the world’s best riders to breathtaking locations that no snowboarded had ever attempted before.

NeXT TopRobot (age 10-14)

For starters, this workshop imparts basic information about how to control robots: How do they perceive their surroundings and how are they able to respond to them? Then, young participants will learn how to program LEGO NXT robots, and also get experience with sensors and other components.

Microcosmonauts (age 6-10)

In Microcosmonauts, 6-10-year-olds get to explore a world that’s invisible to the naked eye. They’ll become familiar with various microscopes and discover fascinating details of our world—from the fibers of their own sweater and the surface of a bit of pollen, all the way to a cell, the smallest living entity.

Deep Space LIVE: “The Art of Flight”

At the next Deep Space LIVE at 8 PM, the spotlight is on snowboarding thrills and chills. The film “The Art of Flight” will accompany snowboard legend Travis Rice and some of the world’s best riders to breathtaking locations that no snowboarded had ever attempted before. This film features steep slopes, incredible tricks, slow-motion footage and shots of the boarders from the most extraordinary angles!
