(Linz, January 16, 2015) A pilot project providing 64 pages of content to about 500 teletext-enabled TV sets throughout Austria—that’s how ORF TELETEXT, one of the biggest success stories in the ORF – Austrian Broadcasting Company’s history, began on January 21, 1980. Today, teletext is available to practically every household nationwide, offers more than 1,400 pages of comprehensive, up-to-the-minute information and services and, even after 35 years and all the mass media breakthroughs in the meantime, is still fresh, modern and in demand by 1.9 million viewers every week. To mark this 35th anniversary, the Ars Electronica Center and the ORF are jointly staging a colorful showcase of three and a half decades of ORF TELETEXT highlights—from the service’s inception to the present day.
