Entertaining Program on Thursday at the Ars Electronica Center
(Linz, February 2, 2016) A fascinating lineup awaits visitors to the Ars Electronica Center on Thursday evening, February 4, 2016. At 6:30 PM, neuroscientist Manuela Macedonia will talk about how drugs change human metabolism and the functioning of the brain, and can thereby trigger mental disorders like depression. And at 8 PM, scuba diving photographer Harald Hois invites you to take a submarine photo-safari through some of Austria’s lesser-known waters. He’ll screen breathtaking shots including huge schools of fish and bizarrely lit underwater landscapes.
About Manuela Macedonia
The lecture series “Brain for Everybody” is dedicated to the current scientific knowledge and methods of brain research. Dr. Manuela Macedonia is a scientist at the Max Planck Institute in Leipzip for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences and part of the working group “Neuronal Mechanismus of Human Communication”. With some colleagues she has founded “Neuroscience for Your – Institute for Knowledge Transfer from Neuroscience”. Her target is to give insights into current brain research for interested lay audience.
About Harald Hois
Harald Hois has been diving the Seven Seas since 1992, but his brand of “rapture of the deep” is especially reserved for alpine lakes and streams. His recently released book—“Tauchen in Fließgewässern” [Diving in Flowing Waters] published by Leykam Verlag—attests to his passion for diving in Upper Austria. Hois organizes underwater photography events, authors articles appearing in leading diving & outdoor magazines, and is one of Europe’s top scuba divers.
