A big draw ever since opening day
Ars Electronica Center Welcomes Its 1,500,000th Visitor

(Linz, May 3, 2017) Anja Rajic just became the 1,500,000th visitor to Linz’s Ars Electronica Center. The 16-year-old student and her classmates at Spengergasse Technical High School in Vienna recently paid a call on the Museum of the Future as part of a class outing. Her favorite feature is Deep Space 8K. On hand to welcome Anja Rajic and friends were Linz Mayor Klaus Luger, Doris Lang-Mayerhofer, the city’s commissioner of cultural affairs and chairwoman of the Ars Electronica Linz GmbH Board of Directors, Ars Electronica Linz GmbH CFO Diethard Schwarzmair, as well as Andreas Bauer and Christoph Kremer, co-directors of the Ars Electronica Center.

Most Popular Museum in Upper Austria

Ever since the expanded Ars Electronica Center opened on January 2, 2009, it has topped all Upper Austrian museums in attendance. In 2016, this facility welcomed over 172,000 visitors of all ages, 97% of whom were very satisfied (79.2%) or satisfied (18.3%) with the offerings they encountered. Almost 75% of guests spend at least two hours in the Ars Electronica Center.

School of the Future

The Museum of the Future is a big hit among school pupils and students, 275,743 of whom visited the Ars Electronica Center from 2009 to 2016. Last year alone, school groups including 34,951 young people toured this facility. In addition to a wide array of guided tours and workshops geared to various types of schools and grade levels, the Ars Electronica Center’s educational offerings include a Future Workshop for girls and boys enrolled in Austrian labor office training programs, diverse workshops for apprentices, and a Kids’ Research Lab for 4-8-year-olds that opened in 2015.

In Demand as an Event Location

The building’s eye-catching architecture, programmable LED-studded façade, and great view of the Danube and the old city are three big reasons why the Ars Electronica Center is a very sought-after event venue. The in-house catering service has planned and hosted a total of 1,526 events from 2009 to 2016.
