Ars Electronica Mix: Inside Futurelab – BioArt

Yoko Shimizu, researcher and artist at the Ars Electronica Futurelab, not only combines art and science in her work, she also transforms scientific phenomena into breathtaking installations. In her presentation, she shows how she uses microscopically small organisms like bacteria to create biological artworks and designs or how she creates air installations with tulips.
Deep Space LIVE: Inside Bruegel
THU June 4, 2020 / 7 p.m.
This time, the Dutch Renaissance is the focus of Deep Space LIVE: Starting at 7 p.m., art historian Dr. Lothar Schultes will show gigapixel photos of famous works by Pieter Bruegel the Elder and present in Deep Space 8K with its 16 by 9 meter wall projections details that would certainly remain hidden when viewing the paintings in the traditional way.
Science Talk: OCT – The view below the surface

Optical Coherence Tomography, OCT for short, is an innovative method for the non-destructive examination of various materials. Günther Hannesschläger from the Linz-based Reserach Center for Non-Destructive Testing will explain how this method works, provide insights into important applications and show what the Research Center is currently developing and researching.
Concert LIVE: Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies
FRI June 5, 2020 / 7 p.m.
Friday evening, the Ars Electronica Center’s Piano Room will once again be the scene of classical music at its finest: Starting at 7 p.m., Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies will play a selection of various piano etudes by Philip Glass as well as an interlude from his opera “The Voyage,” arranged for piano four hands by the two musicians themselves on the Bösendorfer 290 Imperial CEUS computer piano. Cori Olan is again responsible for the visualizations. After the end of the concert, the audience is invited to ask the artists questions or simply chat with them via Skype or YouTube commentary.
