(Linz, July 2, 2020) Learn why the trustworthiness of robots is being investigated using virtual reality, see how decaying materials are integrated into the design process and marvel at the ways in which artificial intelligence can already write and translate texts today. During the 10th week, Ars Electronica Home Delivery will once again be delivering a colorful program revolving around art, technology and society directly to the living room, kitchen, children’s room, balcony or terrace. The audience at home is again cordially invited to ask questions via YouTube commentary or to join in the conversation via Skype.

Science Talk: On understanding and trust – How teamwork between man and machine works
TUE July 7, 2020 / 4 p.m.

Assembling car seats together. Checking cardboard packaging. Sorting medical laboratory butts. Making decisions. There are many areas in which we will work closely with robots in the future. But what does it take for the teamwork between man and machine to work? How can autonomy, trust and a sense of safety on the human side be promoted? Robot psychologist Martina Mara tells what the trend area of collaborative robotics can learn from psychological theories of trust-building and provides insights into a current research project in which the trustworthiness of robots is being investigated using virtual reality.

THU July 9, 2020 / 4 p.m.

The Canadian architect and installation artist Andrea Ling has won the STARTS Prize 2020 in the category Artistic Exploration with her work “Design by Decay, Decay by Design”. Artist Talk: Depart
FR July 10, 2020 / 4 p.m.

At the centre of this artist talk is the Viennese artist duo Leonhard Lass and Gregor Ladenhauf, who have been developing their shared vision of multimedia poetry in Vienna for years. They explore the ritual character of algorithms and create unique moments, which are characterized by formally strict and profound aesthetics. In the process, the audience’s perception is repeatedly overtaxed and put to the test.

Tour: Ghostwriter AI – this is how artificial intelligence texts
WED July 8, 2020 / 2:30 p.m.

OpenAI, a non-profit organization dedicated to the study of artificial intelligence, has developed a large-scale AI language model capable of creating entire contiguous paragraphs of text: GPT-2, which can understand simply structured texts, automatically translate them, answer simple questions and summarize content without having been specially trained for any of these tasks.
