(Linz, 8.7.2020) Learn interesting facts about the risks of digital IDs on a smartphone, get a foretaste of the most exciting projects of the Ars Electronica Festival’s CyberArts exhibition, take a look behind the scenes of Ars Electronica Solutions and prick up your ears when Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies present Igor Stravinsky’s firebird on a computer grand piano. In week 11, Ars Electronica Home Delivery will once again be delivering an entertaining mix of art, technology and society directly to the living room, kitchen, children’s room, balcony or terrace. The audience at home is again cordially invited to ask questions via YouTube commentary or to join in the conversation via Skype.
Science Talk: Digital identity in the future – opportunities and challenges /

In the future, digital identity cards will be stored on smartphones in order to identify oneself not only in the digital but also in the physical world. The possible applications range from logging onto websites to border crossings. Of course, this development also poses great risks for the individual privacy. Univ.-Prof. Priv.-Doz. Dr. René Mayrhofer, Head of the Institute of Networks and Security at the JKU, presents possibilities, opportunities and risks of digital identity cards on smartphones, discusses current developments and is already thinking one step ahead: How will the world change when digital identities are no longer stored in one’s own smartphone but in the “cloud”?
Concert LIVE: Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies

Classical music at its finest awaits the audience of Ars Electronica Home Delivery on Tuesday evening, July 14, 2020. Starting at 7:00 p.m., Maki Namekawa and Dennis Russell Davies will perform Igor Stravinsky’s Firebird on the Bösendorfer Imperial CEUS computer grand piano in the Ars Electronica Center. Both musicians* will again be accompanied by Cori O’Lan’s visualizations that interact with the music in real time.
Inside Ars Electronica Solutions: Business in Focus

Inspired by ideas and concepts from the Ars Electronica context, Ars Electronica Solutions has been developing interactive products and services for exhibitions, brandlands, trade shows, events and in the field of urban development since 2011: from touch applications to daring prototypes and mixed-reality scenarios. Michael Mondria (Managing Director) and Chris Bruckmayr (Head of Products & Events) will be demonstrating Ars Electronica Solutions’ working methods and philosophy with selected projects.
Preview Ars Electronica Festival: CyberArts Exhibition

Year after year, the CyberArts Exhibition at the OK is one of the Ars Electronica Festival’s highlights, as the exhibition showcases a number of the best works submitted to the Prix Ars Electronica. Emiko Ogawa (Prix Ars Electronica Director), Genoveva Rückert (Curator Upper Austrian Kulturquartier) and Martin Sturm (Director Upper Austrian Kulturquartier) will give a foretaste of the various works displayed at the exhibition, with themes ranging from artificial intelligence to surveillance.

To contain the COVID-19 virus, governments around the world are implementing measures and regulations to protect human life. In return, however, many human rights – especially civil liberties – will be temporarily restricted. But are human rights allowed to be restricted at all, and what measures must states take to protect human rights even in times of crisis? What effects do these restrictions have and how can human rights be demanded and defended?
