It’s snowing adventures at the Ars Electronica Center

(Linz, Dec. 21, 2022) When all the presents have been unwrapped and tried out, vacation days can get pretty long. A visit to the Ars Electronica Center provides plenty of variety, especially for kids. This year’s vacation program invites them to marvel, experience and experiment. For those interested in art, there’s also a special offer: Leonardo da Vinci’s Mona Lisa, in high-resolution in deep space.

The Machine Learning Studio is home to a wide variety of machines. Young visitors will get to know and control them and can also build one themselves. Manage free for the robots!

A lot going on in the moss
Workshop for 6- to 8-year-olds

Threadworms, larvae, bacteria, as well as slipper, ciliated, trumpet and tardigrades cavort in the moss. With a microscope and a little luck, you can observe these tiny creatures.

Ding Dong
Workshop for 9- to 11-year-olds
Tuesday, January 3, 2023, 10:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
For everyone who enjoys experimenting with sounds and tones: In the Open Soundstudio, even non-instruments resound. Please bring your own “favorite thing” so it can be made to sound.

Machine 9x smart
Workshop for 6- to 8-year-olds
Thursday, January 5, 2023, 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
How smart can computers be? What does “artificial intelligence” actually mean? Visitors* find out how smart machines really are – compared to human intelligence.

The world’s most famous painting can now be marveled at in all its details in Deep Space – in high resolution on the 16-by-9-meter presentation area. Predicate: absolutely worth seeing.

Opening hours at the turn of the year
The museum will be closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 26, as well as on Dec. 31, Jan. 1 and Jan. 2, 2023 – open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on all other days during the Christmas vacations. The Ars Electronica Center will also be closed from Jan. 9 to Jan. 15, 2023.
