(Linz, Sept. 28, 2023) On Saturday, October 7, starting at 6 p.m., ORF invites you to the “Lange Nacht der Museen” (Long Night of Museums). All over Austria, museums and galleries will open their doors to night owls interested in culture. The Ars Electronica Center is once again part of the initiative, with a programme that includes hands-on activities, Deep Space specials and nightly highlight tours.
Under the guidance of experts, visitors will reflect on the potential and risks of artificial intelligence, track down treasures from art history and ask about the differences between the analog and digital worlds – a total of 23 program points that visitors of all ages can choose from until 11:30 pm. During themed tours of the Ars Electronica Center’s exhibition areas, scientific findings and technologies will be discussed and directly tested, while the youngest explorers will experiment and playfully approach the world of tomorrow in the Children’s Research Lab (18:00 – 23:59) or at the Theme Barrel Workshop (18:30-19:00/20:30-21:00).
With a ticket for 15 or 12 euros, the offerings of all participating institutions can be explored during the Long Night of Museums. Children up to the age of 12 are admitted free of charge.

One incomparable cultural asset that has been successfully preserved digitally is The Last Supper. Last Supper Interactive by renowned media artist Franz Fischnaller enables virtual immersion in Leonardo Da Vinci’s masterpiece, which becomes a special experience in Deep Space 8 K as an ultra-high-resolution gigapixel image.
Presentation: Exobility/Exoskelett

Exoskeletons are physical extensions of the human body that can stabilize their wearers and reduce injuries. The technologically mature systems of robotic exoskeletons have long since made their way out of science fiction movies and into our midst – but what does it actually feel like to wear a robotic suit? During the Exobility/Exoskeleton presentation, this experience can be had.
Theme Tour: KI & Du

On a tour of the “Understanding AI” exhibition, visitors* will gain insight into the technical aspects of AI and discover its creative forms of application. The questions that arise: How do machines “think,” how do they learn, and what distinguishes us humans from machines? The tour offers answers and thought experiments.
Deep Space Special: PLASTICPHONIA

Trash becomes music: sound artist CRYSTN HUNT AKRON presents PLASTICPHONIA, a piece of music whose sounds are not based on classical instruments but on plastic trash. Visualizations by Berlin-based artist Christopher Noelle, known as TOFA, accompany the sound experience at Deep Space 8 K.
Kid’s Research Laboratory

In order to introduce even the youngest children to complex new technologies, a research lab in the Ars Electronica Center is reserved just for kids. On October 7, between 6:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m., there will be experiments and research. Anyone interested can join them on floor 1 at any time and go on a voyage of discovery themselves.
