(Linz, March 13, 2024) Paint Easter eggs together with robots, take a look at art history in Deep Space 8K and experiment with sound in the Open Sound Studio: the Ars Electronica Center invites you to take part in an exclusive program during the vacation week from March 23.

To make waiting for the Easter Bunny easier, the Ars Electronica Center is offering a varied program for the whole family on 2 times 2 days during the vacations. On March 23 and 24 (“Family Days”) and March 27 and 28, the Museum of the Future will be the place to try out, experiment and tinker.

Family Days: Easter workshop on March 23 and 24, 2024

In the “colorful kitchen laboratory”, children make their own egg paints according to laboratory blueprints, in the “Eggbot” workshop, Easter eggs are decorated with the help of robotic arms and in the “Spring meadow to throw” workshop, seed balls are created to green Linz. The “Playing, Being… Experiencing Anton” tour invites visitors to take a journey into Anton Bruckner’s world of sound.

Deep Space lecture and music workshops

On March 27 and 28, explorers between the ages of nine and eleven will drift through soundscapes and become songwriters in the “Ding Dong” workshops. Young people and adults who are interested in the interface between art and religion will get their money’s worth on Maundy Thursday (March 28): art historian Lothar Schultes and theologian Michael Zugmann will take a close look at the Deep Space application Last Supper Interactive (Franz Fischnaller).

Beim gemeinsamen Ostereier-Färben sind im Workshop „Eggbot“ die helfenden „Hände“ von Robotern willkommen: Zuerst entwerfen die Teilnehmer*innen ein eigenes Muster, dann überträgt es ein Roboter auf die Eierschale.

Open Workshop: The colorful kitchen laboratory | from 6 years

The kitchen is very similar to a laboratory – weighing, mixing and chemically altering. In the “colorful kitchen laboratory” in the Ars Electronica Center, people work with food and experiment instructions to produce the most beautiful Easter colors.

Open Workshop: Spring meadow to throw | from 4 years
Sat, March 23, 2024, 15:00 – 16:30 & Sun, March 24, 15:00 – 16:30

Just one meadow flower can feed up to ten insects – such as butterflies, bees and bumblebees. But green spaces in cities are rare. In the workshop, participants make their own “seedbombs” from flower and herb seeds to tackle the problem at its roots.

Vacation Program: Ding Dong | 9-11 years

Musicians use their own creativity to write songs and inspire their audience. But how do machines do it – and which things are suitable for funny sounds? In small groups, sounds are collected, mixed and recorded in the Open Sound Studio.

Art at Easter: Deep Space Lecture: Last Supper Interactive
Thu, March 28, 17:30 – 18:30

In Deep Space 8K, you can meet art historian Lothar Schultes and theologian Michael Zugmann as part of the themed event “Art at Easter”. The two experts will provide expert commentary on a treasure of art history, which will be presented in new splendor in Deep Space 8K: “The Last Supper” by Leonardo da Vinci can be experienced in the 360-degree reconstruction by media artist Franz Fischnaller.
