Eine neuroreaktive Roboteranlage

In Zeiten ständiger Beschäftigung, technologischer Reizüberflutung und permanenter Erreichbarkeit wird „Nichts Tun“ häufig als provokativ aufgefasst und mit Zeitverschwendung assoziiert. Obgleich ein gelegentlicher Moment der Inaktivität und Introspektion, mit einem Schweifenlassen der Gedanken, möglicherweise manchmal produktiver wäre, als ständig damit beschäftigt zu sein, etwas zu tun.

Mit dem Ziel, das „Nichts-Tun“ im Jahr 2019 zu erleichtern, kreierten Emanuel Gollob und sein Team eine neuroreaktive Robotik-Installation auf Basis von Live-EEG-Messungen und adaptierenden Echtzeit-Choreographien. Über die Betrachtungsspanne hinweg lernt ein generativer Algorithmus die Installation so zu bewegen, dass sie das Gedankenschweifen der BetrachterInnen ideal unterstützt.

Biografie:

Emanuel Gollob (AT) (b. 1991) graduated in design investigations at the University of Applied Arts, Vienna. His most recent projects include kinematic video instruments in the Austria Pavilion at EXPO 2017 in Kazakhstan, as well as the “Robot, Doing Nothing” media art project, exhibited at the Ars Electronica Festival in 2017 and the ERROR exhibition in Berlin 2018/2019.
