Das Monophon yello))) ist die jüngste Arbeit aus einer Serie von Hörrohren, die das Linzer Kollektiv Hörstadt seit seiner Gründung vor 10 Jahren realisiert hat. Monophon yello))) konzentriert einen ebenso grundsätzlichen wie für viele Hörstadt-Projekte wesentlichen Zusammenhang: Der öffentliche Raum ist immer akustischer Raum. Er ist anhand aller Versatzstücke akustisch gestaltbar. Nicht Lärm ist dabei das zentrale Thema, sondern Schall als eine für den Menschen wichtige Resource (für Kommunikation, Orientierung, Information, Artikulation, Teilhabe etc.).
Oft spiegeln sich im akustischen Raum politischer Gestaltungswille und kreative Gestaltungsleistung. Dabei stehe man laut Hörstadt hinsichtlich all der neuen Möglichkeiten (gedanklicher sowie technischer Natur) bei Communities, Raum- und Stadtplanung immer noch am Anfang. Peter Androsch und Anatol Bogendorfer wählen oftmals künstlerische Mittel, um ihre Wahrnehmung des akustischen Raums darzustellen. Dabei stellen sie zunächst immer das Hören (und nicht die Erzeugung von Klang) an den Anfang ihrer ästhetischen Auseinandersetzung.

Hörstadt is a laboratory for acoustics, space and society. Located in Linz, Austria, Hörstadt develops concepts and projects in order to realize its main concern: a conscious and humanitarian composition of all acoustic surroundings. Hörstadt’s main areas of activity are: art, science, and teaching. Hörstadt celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2019.
Peter Androsch and Anatol Bogendorfer, both musicians and visual artists working in the Hörstadt team, often use a minimalist approach in their works and their general dealing with the acoustic space. Not much needs to be invented. The point is to pay attention to what’s already there, for example: the city as tonal space.
