Festival-goers are invited here to produce sounds, atmospheres and short pieces of music on their own, which will then be used for digital games, animations, and live-action films or situations. Free from any restrictions of genre or style, music will revert to one of its original functions: an ambassador of emotions providing the various projects with sounds that may both irritate and amuse.
In this year’s music research lab, there will also be a presentation of semester projects by students of the FH St. Pölten, and mica – music austria, creating various formats with the focus on game sound and the music business. This amalgam of various themes offers a broad scale for the festival-goers and invites us to explore and experiment.
Audio Design Goes Interactive – ein Projekt des Studiengangs Digital Media Production der Fachhochschule St. Pölten:
- Climate change. DotConfrontation / Christoph Grubits (AT): .Confrontation: Why environmental conservation? Why not? Questions about questions to be solved in this interactive web project where opinions meet facts.
- Dungeons. Dragons. Lights and Action / Manuel Mader (AT): Tabletop games are cool – so are soundscapes and RBG lamps. The TTRPG Mood Assistant App connects them. Increased player immersion through live soundscape mixing and color gradients with WLAN RGB LED lamps.
- Mixing. Hands Free. Automation Pilot / Magdalena Müller (AT): Sound Untouched: Leap Motion and MaxMSP create a possibility of contactless mixing. Producers* can now make their Ableton arrangements more emotional and intuitive.
- Creative Tool. Spark inspiration: Violicious / Morris Marschik (AT): A self-made fiddle is sampled and put into an Ableton pack, combining creative instrument and effect racks.
