Quadrature

The cosmos serves the new media arts collective Quadrature as an incomprehensible yet genuinely real place. A place full of concepts and superlatives which very often transcend a common mind. Full of theories that arise from enlightened reasoning but leave you with nothing but wonder, awe and (dis)belief. This wild mixture of science and speculations, of rationality and of most basic emotions creates the background for the series of works shown in Linz.

Biography:

Quadrature is an artists’ collective based in Berlin. Their artistic exploration gravitates towards scientific interests and physical experiments, using new technologies and academic research as source and inspiration. The surreal promises of astronomy have haunted the artists, culminating in a series inspired by strange signals, little green men and possible multiverses. Their work has been presented at international festivals and exhibitions, such as the Ars Electronica Museum, CYNETART in Hellerau, Künstlerhaus Wien, International Digital Arts Biennial in Montreal or The Modern Art Museum Santralistanbul in Istanbul. They realized their first solo exhibition at Liusa Wang Gallery at the end of 2018.
