Connected Life reveals life’s profound nature, from grand ecosystems to microscopic worlds. The Rothwald, Central Europe’s last primeval forest, offers a unique window into hidden wilderness. Microbiomes, countless hidden organisms, exert a largely unknown, yet vital, influence. Inside fungal cells, unseen processes are made visible. In Connected Life, uncover the secrets of life and see their value for our survival.

  • Sebastian Pichelhofer

Sebastian initially worked on computer games, later specializing in film, visual effects, and 3D animation. He played a key role in the development of the AXIOM open-source camera, which won a Prix Ars Electronica Award of Distinction in 2012. Today, in addition to further camera developments and science communication at BOKU University, he runs a film production company together with a colleague, focusing on documentaries on sustainability issues and innovative formats such as 360° 3D experiences and virtual reality projects.

  • Sebastian Postl

Sebastian is a filmmaker with a penchant for projects outside the box. He is responsible for video production at BOKU University and works in science communication as well as a film producer and cameraman.

  • Claudia Puck

Even as a child, Claudia Puck was addicted to the medium of film, as one of the main characters in her first favourite film was called Puck: Puck, the housefly from the series Maya the Bee. The content and themes she has explored since then seem to have been influenced by these first film experiences: The diversity of living creatures and the fascinating interplay of nature continue to impress her. In her work, she tries to make complex relationships accessible through stories and to shed light on the beauty and fragility of our planet.

  • Johann Steinegger

Johann Steinegger is a creative freelancer in media design who is passionate about creating music videos and commercials in a wide variety of genres. His interest is increasingly shifting to interactive formats such as games and VR applications. This is where he can fully live out his fascination for technology and three-dimensional space in particular. His passion is to make emotions, thoughts, and ideas visible using technological means. The current project, which realistically recreates the most elementary building blocks of life with the help of technology and mathematics, is a particularly exciting challenge for him. He also works on his own game designs and as an animator for indie games.
