The Critical Data Research Group (CDRG) was founded by Manuela Naveau as part of the Critical Data professorship at Interface Cultures. Based on the premise that artists are of great value for the study and critical mediation of data usage, data processing systems, and related knowledge, they not only aim to make visible how systems of digitalization work, but also how they do not. The group currently comprises eleven PhD students who will present their research in a poster session at the festival.
Blended Intensive Programmes (BIP), supported by ERASMUS+, are short, intensive courses using innovative teaching methods. This year’s “BIP on Performing Data” showcases artworks from students of the National Academy of Arts Sofia, the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts at Cyprus University of Technology, and the University of Arts Linz.
Special guest Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU) from South Korea will present a series of talks by professors and students on AI and humanity, media art, and K-culture.
Guest artist Fernando Velázquez, a multimedia artist and curator, will present works of his that explore intersections of science, philosophy, and visual anthropology.
