For Sustainability Advocates

From microorganisms in rain clouds and algae as life-givers to questions about energy, consumption and the hidden costs of urban growth – the festival opens up spaces in which sustainability can be both sensually experienced and critically scrutinized. Installations, workshops and artistic experiments reveal how technologies can be conceived in a regenerative way and how plants, soil and people interact to create new visions of agriculture.

  • Bacteria Cloud of Clouds

    Natalia Rivera (CO)

Bacteria cloud of clouds is an art-sci installation that cherishes the microbiodiversity found in the clouds of one of the rainiest places on earth, the Biogeographical Chocó, in Colombia. A digital seed of life from the clouds, to keep and care for what we want to bring with us to upcoming worlds.

  • Earth Is a Sensorium

How does what we know about the world influence how we act in it? Earth Is a Sensorium responds to this question by examining a crucial example: the Great Acceleration.

  • Powerplayground

    Verein Energiewende Linz (AT)

How closely is our high standard of living linked to energy? How much do we really consume—and where does that energy come from? And what will it take to transition away from fossil fuels and build a more sustainable future? The Powerplayground invites you to explore these questions—and discover your own answers.

  • Sands of Time

    Ala Praxis (NG)

Sands of Time: Walls We Can Walk Through is a multi-sensory installation exploring sand as both a foundation of Dar es Salaam’s growth and a source of ecological harm. Blending art, science, and technology, it reveals the human and environmental cost of unchecked urban expansion.

  • Synthenesis

    Fara Peluso (DE/IT)

Synthenesis is a living machine that depicts a hybrid organ of human and non-human body, synthesizing pearls of Spirulina algae which can improve body and mental health. It imagines a near-future scenario in which people grow their own food supply of Spirulina algae empowering their choices.
