Grand Prix Recipient of the 6ᵗʰ VH Award, Wendi Yan, will present her latest film Dream of Walnut Palaces, a visually striking work that fuses Taoist philosophy, science history, and cutting-edge animation. The film follows a jeweled skeleton of a Chinese scholar on a ghost ship heading west, imagining a world where Eastern and Western knowledge meet as equals. Wendi Yan was praised by the VH Award jury for her in-depth research, speculative worldbuilding, and sophisticated use of technology.

    Wendi Yan

    Wendi Yan is an artist, technologist, and writer narrating metamorphoses of the scientific self. She examines the cosmological, linguistic, and physiological challenges in facing alien epistemic systems across time and crafts alternative fictions of science and its history through CGI films, games, and archival displays of sculptural objects.
