Artists are addressing social issues in an artistic way, asking us questions in the form of their artworks. This can be called artistic journalism. An experimental series of courses discusses the role of art in journalism during a unique guided tour of the Ars Electronica Center. This online course at Keio University SFC, led by Hideaki Ogawa, Director of the Ars Electronica Futurelab, will tour the knowledge-sharing activities of the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria, and enter into a dialogue with new sources of knowledge that can no longer be conveyed solely through books, newspapers and online media.

With insights into the Alchemists of the Future exhibition, Hideaki Ogawa provides a glimpse into the art and research of the Ars Electronica Futurelab in his second lecture. Join him for a sneak peek into the black box of future technologies and learn more about current trends and how they’re already finding application in broad areas of our daily lives. In this LIVE session, Hideaki Ogawa talks with Horst Hörtner, Senior Director and founder of the lab.
Watch two more lectures in this “Artistic Journalism” series: “Understanding AI” and “There is no Planet B” (Livestream on November 26, 2021).
