“Humans live in symbiosis with a world of systems whose sensual perception often eludes us. Art can make their complexity tangible. The Poetic System of artistic expression provides us with a new level of meaning and perception to contents that are hard to access. It uses a sensual-emotional language and, through its immediate, aesthetic appearance, creates a free space for knowledge and cognition.” – Stefan Mittlböck-Jungwirth-Fohringer

In Poetic Systems, this second episode of the Ars Electronica Futurelab’s 25th Anniversary Series, Artist and Key Researcher Stefan Mittlböck-Jungwirth-Fohringer embarks on a research for the poetic moment within the natural and artificially generated systems surrounding us. Focusing on a series of concepts developed over the years in the lab’s present and past, he shows how technical or political systems, but also systems of information, software or mobility, can be transformed into a shape that we humans can perceive – through an artistic approach: Learn more about Poetic Systems, Art and Research of the Ars Electronica Futurelab.
Six further episodes from the series also add a forward-looking perspective to this look back to the future: Virtual Worlds, Creative (Artificial) Intelligence, Humanity & Robotinity, Computation & Beyond, the Art of Swarms, and Art Thinking.
