How will the majority generate income in the future? This question was the basis for the Ars Electronica Futurelab‘s open discussion “Work of the Future” at the Futurelab Day of the Ars Electronica Festival 2022.

Individuals from all over the world came together to exchange ideas and perspectives. They formulated how work could be more than just the assurance of survival and the fulfilment of individual development, but serve a common purpose to make a difference, without just feeding the system. The audience was invited as well, talking about cultural change, rethinking as individuals as much as corporates, as well as the precious impact of education on the future of work. The participants came to the understanding, that what we need is not only visions, but also courage to speak out.

The panel participants were Gianpaolo Barozzi (IT) – Sr. Dir. People & Communities / PX Innovation Lead Cisco Systems, Victoria Čaić (DE/AT) – educator and member of “Generation Grundeinkommen”, Ria Lu (PH) – Executive Director of the Game Developers Association of the Philippines (Komikasi Games), supporting ILO’s (International Labor Organization) women in STEM programme, and Marcus Neustetter (ZA/AT) – artist & CEO “The Trinity Session”. Horst Hörtner (AT), CTO of Ars Electronica and Managing Director of the Ars Electronica Futurelab, led the discussion.
