The journey through our universe with the “Uniview” planetarium program has been one of the main audience favorites in the Ars Electronica Center’s Deep Space 8K for more than ten years. Now, the new version of this program opens up amazing dimensions.
Join a journey to a pulsar, a neutron star, with its powerful magnetic field lines and dizzyingly fast rotation. Dive into a Black Hole with a realistic gravitational lensing effect, a cosmic phenomenon that has been on the wish list of the audience for years. Uniview 3.0 takes you to unfamiliar solar systems with exoplanets, for example the famous Trappist-1 planetary system 40 light-years away: Seven Earth-like planets orbit a red dwarf, there. In contrast, the exoplanet KELT-9b is anything but Earth-like: Its surface is hotter than the temperature of most stars! These and more exosystems will be studied in the future by the famous James Webb Space Telescope.
