LIFE INKlusive

For the inclusion project LIFE INKlusive, the body signals of artists with disabilities and those of students at the University of Art and Design Linz were visualized during the creative process using technology developed at Futurelab. The results of this unique initiative are now being presented at splace am Hauptplatz.

An exhibition by the Ars Electronica Center at splace on Hauptplatz.

Opening on May 12 at 5 p.m.

LIFE INKlusive is a collaborative project between inclusive studios run by Caritas, promente, Lebenshilfe und Diakonie, the University of Arts Linz, the Ars Electronica Center, and the Ars Electronica Futurelab. The project takes its name from the installation Life Ink, developed by Ars Electronica Futurelab and Wacom and exhibited at the Ars Electronica Center.

Attached to the body, it measures biosignals such as brain waves, eye movements, muscle reactions, and skin perspiration. These stimuli are simultaneously converted into color patterns and visualized on a screen. Depending on the mental and physical activity that triggers them, this results in completely individual visualizations.

To familiarize themselves with Life Ink, the artists were given a guided tour of the Ars Electronica Center in advance. In anticipation of the internationally inclusive cultural festival sicht:wechsel, which will take place from May 19 to 24, the resulting Life Ink visualizations will be exhibited together with the artists’ works from May 12 to 18 at splace on Hauptplatz.
