Virtual Black Out: Experiments in the Future of Form, takes a step into digital “space” making between Southern African digital artists and theatre makers. Engaging African scenographers and digital artists to rethink space, location and time for new digital theatre making. Five pieces developed in lockdown over two weeks in June 2020 – are quirky digital translations of performed narratives.
The streamed recording is an online discussion held at the virtual National Arts Festival in South Africa, in which the respective collaborators speak to their experiences of working together in this rapid online and completely experimental manner.
We are also excited to announce following these experiments, Xopher Wallace the Digital Artist collaborator of Neighbours was selected as one of the 2020 Fak’ugesi Digital Art Curators and is the Festival’s feature face filter artist (see Fak’ugesi curator video). Additionally the team of my many mouths received funding and are the feature project for the Pan African Telematic Art Project (see PATAP interview video for more).
