(Linz, 24.10.2021) Profiles of white and red marble, unusual depictions of saints and plenty of unsolved mysteries: the tomb of 13th-century Schaunberger Wernhard IV from the Wilhering Collegiate Church has been digitized by the Ars Electronica Futurelab and the Digilithic company following its restoration and can be examined in detail during Deep Space LIVE on Thursday evening, October 28, 2021. On site in Deep Space even in 3D. Starting at 7:00 p.m., Wilhering Abbot Reinhold Dessl, art historian Lothar Schultes and Stefan Mittlböck-Jungwirth-Fohringer from the Ars Electronica Futurelab will provide expert commentary.

Deep Space Live – The Tomb of Schaunberger in the Collegiate Church of Wilhering

A tomb from the Wilhering Collegiate Church of the Schaunbergers, whose castle stands near Eferding, has been painstakingly restored and digitized by the Ars Electronica Futurelab and the Digilithic company. Even before the tomb of Wernhard IV is reinstalled in the collegiate church, visitors to Deep Space LIVE will have the opportunity to examine the high tomb in detail in 3D on Thursday evening, October 28, 2021, starting at 7:00 p.m. and learn more about its sculptural quality as well as exciting local historical contexts. The evening will be moderated by Wilhering Abbot Reinhold Dessl, art historian Lothar Schultes and Stefan Mittlböck-Jungwirth-Fohringer of the Ars Electronica Futurelab. Artistic Journalism 1/3: Understanding AI

Hideaki Ogawa, Director of the Ars Electronica Futurelab, teaches Artistic Journalism in a series of experimental online courses at Japan’s Keio University SFC in Fujisawa. Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, Ogawa will focus on the topic of artificial intelligence during a tour of the Ars Electronica Center and present a series of applications and installations that invite speculation about various future scenarios. In addition, he discusses with Ali Nikrang, a researcher at the Ars Electronica Futurelab, and Museum Director Andreas Bauer the collaboration between AI and humans as well as the associated opportunities and dangers.
