On 01.10.2021 it is time – the new album of TEXTA “Mehr Oder Weniger” will be released. As with the last two albums, there will again be an exclusive concert shortly before the release in Linz. At this pre-presentation TEXTA will not only play all songs of the new album live, but also tell stories about the creation of the current work. The evening will be rounded off by the great live visuals of Tagtool.
About TEXTA
TEXTA has not only written Austrian HipHop history, they are Austrian HipHop history. It all started in spring 1993 in Linz, when the four rappers Flip (who is also Texta’s producer), Huckey, Laima and Skero got together to write a rap song for the cultural club KAPU. One year later the first shows followed, DJ Dan joined the band and at the latest since the debut EP “geschmeidig” in 1995 TEXTA is one of the most important representatives of the Austrian HipHop scene. 8 studio albums, a live album with SK Invitational, various EP ́s, collabo albums with Blumentopf & Total Chaos as Kaleidoscope, with Blumentopf as T’n’T, the Invisibles, the TTR Allstars, countless features, solo albums, single cooperation with other MC ́s (Average & Huckey, Laima & Def Ill,Flip & Average), producer and instrumental albums by Flip, the Textabuch 2010, the Textadoku 2012, the label Tonträger Records operated since 1998, 800 concerts around the globe, theater plays and much more are on the credit side. The development of dialect rap, dancehall in German and in dialect, the growth of Linz to the Austrian hip hop capital of the 00s and several creative and organizational activities have significantly influenced the music scene in Austria. Even the exit of Skero in 2013 was well digested.
However, when Huckey succumbed to his cancer on May 1st, 2018, musical plans were suddenly no longer in the foreground, but rather going into oneself, processing grief, sounding out energies. Putting the end of the band in the room. A good year after the death, the three of them are back on stage as Texta. Is there still something? There is. After a small teaser 2020 with the song and video “Rundherum” including unreleased Huckey part, the three sat down in the studio and polished the new album “Mehr Oder Weniger”. 13 tracks that represent everything that makes TEXTA unique: sophisticated beats, cuts and scratches by DJ Danand the two MC ́s Laima & Flip who throw themselves with fresh energy on the instrumentals. Philosophical as ever, perhaps more personal than ever, with the necessary wink to their long career but the conviction that this changed rap game still needs the three old masters.
Now finally live on tour again, in Run DMC style two MC ‘ s and a DJ, hip hop to the fullest with all the hits and the new material, more is not possible, less certainly not.
