We lost objects.
We lost information.
We lost friends.
We lost dear ones.
We lose hope, cells, memory, and sometimes we feel that we lose the future. We get lost. When we lose something, we sometimes get desperate, we sometimes get lonely, we isolate. We, Alexandru, Constantin, Maia, Romeo, Prateek, and Grigore want to know how you felt when you lost something. What made you feel weak? How did you regain your sense of identity? We are collecting stories, experiences, emotions expressed in writing, drawing, pictures, video and audio clips, or in whichever medium you want to express yourself. We are building up Lost Interferences by collecting feelings on loss. These will be exhibited in a performative installation online in the Ars Electronica Festival and onsite at BRD Scena9 Residence in Bucharest this September. In Lost Interferences telematic art is called to technologically heal our loss of body, our loss of senses, our loss of meaning. We hope that by tuning into the Lost Interferences which were never heard, into our own lives, and into all the lost possibilities, the audience will join the performers in making sense of what we have lost. We hope that by acknowledging loss we heal, and that together we will emerge through a digitally connected body gaining a collective self. Maia Morgenstern (RO): Maia Morgenstern is a Romanian film and stage actress, described by Florin Mitu of AMOS News as „a symbol of Romanian theater and film“. In the English-speaking world, she is probably best known for the role of Mary, the mother of Jesus, in Mel Gibson’s „The Passion of the Christ“.
Constantin Basica (US/RO): Constantin Basica is a Romanian composer living in the San Francisco Bay Area, whose current work focuses on symbiotic interrelations between music, video, and performers. He holds a DMA in Composition from Stanford University, where he is currently a postdoctoral scholar, lecturer, and the concert coordinator at the Center for Computer Research in Music and Acoustics (CCRMA).
Alexandru Bercenau (RO): Alexandru Bercenau is a mixing realities director and an associate professor at AI (Animation and Interaction) Department of UNATC IL Caragiale, Bucharest Romania. He initiated the Research Centre CINETic at UNATC and the master program for Interactive Technologies at the same university. He is conducting interdisciplinary research at the intersection of immersive environments and neuroscience looking for new healing narrative perspectives.
Romeo Cornelius (RO): Romeo Cornelius is a counter-tenor born on July 13, 1979 in Romania. He studied at the National University of Music in Bucharest with Silvia Voinea. Between 2001- 2004, he studied with Fusako Kondo at the Conservatoire National de Région de Paris. He has participated in many concerts and festivals as a soloist, performing with important orchestras under the baton of famous masters such as Sergiu Comissiona, Rasvan Cernat, Cornel Trăilescu, Cristian Mandeal or Dorin Frandes. His international performances include parts from Handel’s operas: Tolomeo from *Giulio Cesare* at the Opera of Monte Carlo (2002), Tamerlano from the opera “Tamerlano” at the Odeon Theater in Wien (2002), Orlando from the opera „Orlando“ at the Gyptis Theater in Marseille (2003), Idelberto from the opera „Lotario“ at Basel and Halle (2005). In 2007, he sang Arsace from the opera „Artaserse“ by Leonardo Vinci with the Musikwerkstadt Wien Company. He was invited to sing „Stabat Mater“, by Pergolese, besides Annick Massis at the Lacoste Festival and Chartres Festival. The recording has been broadcast at France 2. He has been awarded several national and international prizes.
