TV Free Europe

TV Free Europe explores the possibilities of freedom (especially freedom of speech) and change, it aims to transgress social bubbles and connect voices, locations, times and stories, historical topics with today’s and tomorrow’s facts and fictions. The format of a television becomes a horizontal medium, which creates immediate platforms of exchange. The main motivation of the project is to imagine and create a different public sphere, where voices and opinions do not serve a consensus, where different contributions in different languages can come into dialogue, and where a mixture of play and seriousness can drive common actions. The leading organization of the project is Pneuma Szöv., a Budapest based artist collective, operating since 2008, building and working together with a heterogeneous network of collaborators from all layers of society, with the shared aim of creating unusual performative channels to reach their audiences through playful use of public sphere. The project group consists of the artistic director Sarah Günther (Pneuma Szöv., HU), the project coordinator Zsuzsa Berecz (Pneuma Szöv., HU), the lead contributor from University of Nova Gorica School of Arts Jasna Hribernik (SI), Andreas Liebmann (Tårnby Park Studio, DE), Alfred Masal (Studio Oberwart AU), Alexander Pehlemann (Studio Leipzig, GE), and Peter Purg (UNG School of Arts, SI).

FEAR FREE, an experimental TV-show from Studio Nova Gorica. The Fear Free TV-show is a final production of the international workshop of the project TV Free Europe, produced as a group work of participating students and mentors. As a starting point for thinking about fear and its many faces, which was also one of the important themes of the overall project, students conducted an interview with one of the members of the internationally known Slovenian band Laibach, Jani Novak. The students were exploring new formats and techniques, and simultaniously learning the basic principles of TV production, characteristic of the 21st Century. They were working with two mentors: Assoc. Prof. Jasna Hribernik from the School of Arts, University of Nova Gorica, and Sarah Günther from the artistic group Pneuma Szöv (Budapest). Students: Immanuel Hofman (GR), Ivana Kalc (HR), Vasily Kuzmich (UA), Luka Mavrič (SI), Nabil Nazeem (PS), Kristian Petrovčič (SI), Matej Rimaič (SI), Adriana Kostja Ronkali (SI), Una Savić (RS), Parisa Zaeri (IR), Staš Zupanc (SI).
