Out of the Box

The Midlife Crisis of the Digital Revolution

  1. Ars Electronica
  2. Out of the Box

LENTOS Kunstmuseum

Pre-Opening

Before the festival officially begins, locals are invited to an inaugural tour, a pre-opening, on Wednesday evening.

ARS and the CITY

A retrospective of the activity and impact of Ars Electronica in, with and for Linz: Ars Electronica’s art, media and participation projects in public space – from 1979 to the present day.

40 Years Ars Electronica

At the festival, 40 Years Ars Electronica is celebrated in two formats, each presenting a selection of outstanding projects in the history of Ars Electronica. ARS and the CITY displays exceptional works in the public space at the LENTOS museum while ARS on the WIRE shows initiatives in the public digital space at the POSTCITY.

LightWing II
Uwe Rieger (DE/NZ), Yinan Liu (NZ), arc/sec Lab (NZ)

The interactive installation LightWing II creates a mysterious sensation of tactile data. It allows the visitor to navigate through holographic spaces and to explore responsive narratives.

Radio Walk – Anton Lapov
Anton Lapov (UA)

Join Anton Lapov’s radio walk to hear a deep dive into the socio-cultural landscape in which Ars Electronica has existed for the past 40 years. You can listen to soundscape narration about historical changes in technological art representation forms – from the heyday of the digital revolution to the post-digital crisis – through the lens of critical observation of the Linz cityscape.
