In Posse ist ein laufendes Projekt. Die Künstlerin Charlotte Jarvis arbeitet mit Prof. Susana Chuva de Sousal Lopes in Leiden und Biotehna / Kersnikova Institute in Ljubljana zusammen, um den weltweit ersten „weiblichen“ Samen herzustellen. Das Projekt wird in drei Teilen entwickelt – zum einen ist Jarvis auf der Suche nach Spermatozoiden (Spermien) aus ihrem Körper. Gleichzeitig entwickelt sie eine weibliche Form von Samenplasma (den flüssigen Teil des Samens) mit Material, das von mehreren Frauen, Transgender und Personen non-binärem Geschlechts gespendet wurde. Schließlich verwendet Jarvis das für In Posse entwickelte weibliche Sperma als Teil einer Nachstellung des altgriechischen Festivals von Thesmophoria.

In Posse ist ein lateinischer Ausdruck und bedeutet übersetzt „bevor wir geboren werden“. Es bezieht sich auf etwas Mögliches, das Potenzial hat, aber noch nicht in Kraft getreten ist. Jarvis und Prof. Lopes streben nach einer Form des technologischen, biologischen und kreativen Aktivismus.

Biografie:
Charlotte Jarvis (UK) is an artist working at the intersection of art and science. Charlotte’s practice often utilizes living cells and DNA: she has grown her own tumor, recorded music onto DNA and seen her heart beat outside her body. Charlotte has exhibited her work in eleven international solo shows and over one hundred group exhibitions in spaces such as the Victoria & Albert Museum in the UK, Kapelica Gallery in Slovenia, Guangdong Museum of Art in China and at The Venice Biennale in Italy. Charlotte has been resident artist at the European Bioinformatics Institute, The Netherlands Proteomics Centre and the Hubrecht Institute. She has won the Netherlands Bioart and Design Award and been peer-review published in Leonardo Journal. Charlotte is currently a lecturer at Goldsmiths University.
