For Innovators

From robotic caregivers and empathy-triggering machines to quantum art and collaborative XR worlds, citizen science initiatives and new approaches in neurotechnology – the festival will be a laboratory for pioneering ideas. Meet researchers, developers and artists who are pushing the boundaries between science, technology and society and discover perspectives that radically challenge familiar ideas.

  • Caring Robots

Christopher Frauenberger (AT), Ralf Vetter (AT), Matthias Hirschmanner (AT)

Can robots care—and should they? In an aging society, the strain on care systems increases. Robotics is often presented as a solution—but is it really? This exhibit explores the role of robots and AI within the complex landscape of caring for older adults with dementia.

  • Data Art & Science Initiative

Toyota Coniq (JP), Ars Electronica Futurelab (AT)

Experience a glimpse into the planned Data Art & Science Center in Hikone. It aims to use data, art, science, and civic engagement collaboratively to shape the future of Japan’s Shiga region.

  • Dynamics of a Dog on a Leash

    Takayuki Todo (JP)

A chained robot dog thrashes, struggles, and collapses, evoking a pitiful beast. Though artificial, its movements trigger empathy and blur the line between machine and life. Reactions ranged from outrage to awe. In a future with robots, will we feel more—or stop feeling altogether?

  • HandsOn NeuroBionik

There’s a worm in our robot! At least its brain is—because the nervous system of a worm can already be “copied” into a machine.

  • LiveDEMO_NeuroReha

    recoveriX

A new approach to rehabilitation for stroke, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson patients developed by g.tec medical engineering GmbH Austria will be demonstrated.

  • New Pathways: AI, Art, and Collaboration in Citizen Science—#AI, Art, Policy

This conference explores the diverse potential of citizen science to drive education, innovation, creativity, and policy impact—while also addressing the challenges that come with it.

  • Neuro Experiences

In the NeuroExperienceLab, led by Erika Mondria, visitors can experience scientific research first-hand.

  • NeXus Print

Dai Nippon Printing (JP), Ars Electronica Futurelab (AT)

NeXus Print is a new XR platform that lets users collaboratively create immersive worlds in real-time using generative AI. The inclusive environment invites visitors of Open Futurelab to envision futures together and share their experiences.

  • People Thinking Lab

HAKUHODO Inc., Sei-katsu-sha insight R&D Institute (JP)

People Thinking Lab is an initiative grounded in the philosophy of Sei-katsu-sha Thinking, which views people as multifaceted individuals who actively live within diverse societies. At this year’s festival, it focuses on exploring ways to listen to the small voices of Sei-katsu-sha.

  • Sensing Quantum

    LAS Art Foundation (DE)

LAS Art Foundation’s Sensing Quantum is a long-term artistic research initiative exploring the intersections of quantum science, technology, philosophy, and contemporary art. The project features commissions for artists and musicians, a symposium, a publication, and an ongoing educational program.

  • SHARESPACE

SHARESPACE Consortium (EU), Ars Electronica Futurelab (AT), Leon Butler (IE), Peter Power (IE)

SHARESPACE is a European XR project about collaboration between humans and avatars. At the Festival, visitors explore multi-user interactive artworks in Deep Space 8K such as Deep Sync Connect, Converge 2, and Foolish Flame.

  • SPOTSHOTBEUYS

    Silke Grabinger (AT)

Silke Grabinger’s SPOTSHOTBEUYS reinterprets Beuys’ action in a multifaceted and ironic manner. In this performance, she confronts the robotic dog “Spot”, a symbol of contemporary technological innovation.

  • The Dream In Experience

Andreas Kaindlstorfer (AT), Andreas Strauss (AT), Reinhard Gupfinger (AT)

The Dream In Experience serves as an open space for sleep culture. Visitor’s sleep data is recorded in so-called capsule suites under varying conditions and transformed into real-time artistic output. The project addresses sleep equity and encourages reflection on sleep as a vital life factor.

  • VVVV Worldwide Meetup

    VVVV Community

vvvv: a visual live-programming environment that takes you from rapid prototyping to final production.
