This chapter describes and examines the fundamental structures and systems required to successfully operate digital applications and technologies, such as data and high-performance data centers, data transmission technologies, chip and circuit manufacturing, etc.

It explores colonialist references within technical infrastructure and data flows, as well as the ethical, political, technological, and economic challenges associated with sourcing the necessary material resources for hardware. It discusses alternative approaches and solutions aimed at overcoming existing structures and creating a sustainable, ethically responsible, and equitable infrastructure for digital systems.​
