When zooming in down to one square millimetre, even the smallest details become visible in Haltadefinizione’s ultra-high-resolution gigapixel image. It is also possible to navigate through the two-dimensional plane of the fresco and virtually walk into and behind the famous painting. You can learn more about the historical context of the painting. We will show you the Dominican monastery of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan, where Leonardo created the masterpiece on the north wall of the refectory between 1494 and 1498 on behalf of his patron Ludovico Sforza, Duke of Milan.
