Today we start a new series at Deep Space LIVE with astrophotographer Dietmar Hager, in which we deal with zodiac signs in the night sky.

The inseparable brothers Kastor and Pollux from Greek mythology embody the heroism of the ancient world: they joined the heroes of the Argo and set out in search of the golden fleece. The two are immortalized in the constellation of twins. Astronomically, this striking constellation of the fading winter is home to exciting and at the same time very beautiful objects that we will look at together. We find here so-called star clusters, remnants of dead stars and also doubly arranged, thus twin star clusters. With pictures from the world’s best terrestrial telescopes as well as from space telescopes we will walk around this constellation and go on a journey into the depths of space.
