Space travel – and astronautical space travel in particular – is a technology that we very rarely encounter in everyday life. In addition, space projects cost a lot of money, and the question of whether there is a benefit behind them for the general public often arises. In this lecture we will address this question, and show the many achievements of space technology, which we often use every day. Their origin as space technology is not always obvious!
