Assembling car seats together. Check cardboard packaging. Sorting medical laboratory butts. Making decisions. There are many areas in which we will work closely with robots in the future. But what does it take for the teamwork between man and machine to work? How can autonomy, trust and a sense of safety be promoted on the part of the human team player? Robot psychologist Martina Mara tells what the trend area of collaborative robotics can learn from psychological theories of trust-building and she gives insights into a current research project in which the trustworthiness of robot colleagues is being investigated using virtual reality.
