Owing to the strict COVID-19 measures in the spring of 2020 the population became test subjects in probably the biggest isolation experiment in recent history. But life in seclusion is nothing new for Florian Voggeneder: The photographer and media artist already spent one month during 2018 in the desert of Oman as a crew member of the AMADEE-18 Mars simulation. Recurring motifs in his work, besides space travel, are humans, signals, and interferences – often based on cartographic research. Florian Voggeneder will be speaking about current projects, closed borders, and the possibility of being at home in space in this segment of “At home with…” for Ars Electronica Home Delivery.
