Creative Artificial Intelligence and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) are by now daily used in the production of images, videos and art. This creative relationship is exciting yet not very clear. Largest part of production feeds into popular deep fakes and face swapping tendencies. We do feel a layer of suspense and concern when it comes to ownership of AI produced artworks. For this reason, we are meeting an expert in digital law, AI media artist, to discuss the role of AI in society today and tomorrow.

Biographies

Sari Depreeuw is partner, co-heading the IP/IT team, at the Brussels based law firm DALDEWOLF and lecturer at Université Saint Louis de Bruxelles where she teaches intellectual property and media law. Sari works mainly in digital law, i.e. intellectual property (with a focus on copyright), protection of personal and non-personal data and complex contracts. She has published several articles on Belgian, European and international copyright and is regularly invited to speak on copyright and data protection. 

Francesco D’Abbraccio is an Italian media artist, musician and researcher focusing on politics of Representation and transmedial culture. With the project Lorem he works with AI systems and neural networks to investigate modern human-computer interaction through text, images and sound. He collaborates with a wide variety of institutions, such as London Design Biennale, HEK Basel, Sheffield International Documentary Festival, Museo Triennale di Milano, Galleria Nazionale di Arte Moderna di Roma, Sommerset House (London), Transmediale Vorspiel, GOSHORT Nijmegen International Film Fest, KEYS Berlin, Gislaveds Konsthall, BLM Venice, Liftoff Tokyo. He is creative co director of Krisis Publishing, an independent publishing and curatorial platform working on the impact of media culture on contemporary societies.
