Bharath Ganesh (US/NL), Richard Rogers (US/NL), speakers from the “Radicalization by Design” web project and Joanna Bryson (UK/DE) and Sahana Udupa (DE) will discuss issues of freedom of speech, extreme speech, cancel culture and deplatforming. Recently the big corporate social media platforms have come under immense pressure to clean up their act. This has led to the „cancellation“ of a great many large and controversial accounts and channels. This discussion will consider the effectiveness as well as the ethics of efforts to „deplatform“ extreme speech and issues of freedom of speech and cancel culture.
