Since its opening in 1992, the Sinaloa Science Center in Culiacan has been one of the most important meeting places for the conveyance of information, science and technology in the northern region of Mexico. For the first time in 25 years, the building was renovated, redesigned and the exhibition concept revised. With the vision of generating an immersive environment for contemporary knowledge transfer in various dimensions of emotional, sensitive and physical learning, the plan was born to integrate “Deep Space 8K” as one of the main attractions in the new Science Center. This is the first time that Ars Electronica replicated Deep Space 8K, under the name “Cubo Negro”. The advantage of Deep Space, besides the community experience, is that it is completely open to the public – anyone can go there. It is a presentation platform that is socially fair and completely barrier-free, also or especially in terms of thinking. In many conversations around the globe we notice that exactly this empathic view is becoming more and more relevant. For the Festival there will be a Live Duett between the Deep Space in Mexico and the Deep Space in Linz. Visitors of Deep Space 8K in Linz will be able to play together with the visitors in the Mexican Cubo Negro and vice versa. Same environment, same time, only different destinations.
Visiting the Deep Space presentations is only possible with a pre-booked ticket. Tickets are available at the Ars Electronica Center’s infodesk and can only be booked for the respective time slot of the museum visit ticket.
