On May 5, 1945, the former concentration camp Mauthausen was liberated by the US Army. Under the title “#eachnamematters the names known to date of the 90,000 people killed in the former Mauthausen concentration camp will be projected on the camp walls and read out from 4 to 6 May as part of a touching video projection. 16.6 million pixels cover the 120-meter-long outer wall, transforming it into a digital projection surface. From a constantly bubbling source of letters, the names of the dead form and flow in groups, incessantly, like endless waves, down the outer wall. The projection, which will also be viewable via livestream in cooperation with Ars Electronica Home Delivery, will be accompanied by a social media action under the hashtag #eachnamematters, in which people are called upon to share their thoughts and impressions. The video projection was created in collaboration with Ars Electronica Linz and with the support of the Austrian Federal Ministry of the Interior.
CCI Lab: Laboratory of the Senses

The CCI Lab presents various projects as well as workshops that demonstrate the potential of combining artistic and industrial know-how and express the progressive networking of forms of knowledge. Starting at 2:30 p.m., the artist Christiane Wittig will present her “Laboratory of the Senses” and talk about her so-called “sense objects”, which can evoke new perceptions in conjunction with machines. Viewers will also learn interesting facts about augmented reality and smart materials. The project was developed in cooperation with InduCCI, a European initiative to promote cultural and creative industries in traditionally industrial regions in Central Europe.
Cooperative Aesthetics: Fireworks – Ute Hackl

Students of Time-Based and Interactive Media Art at the Linz Art University made use of the infrastructure of Deep Space 8K with its 16 by 9 meter wall & floor projections and laser tracking and developed various projects, which they now present to the viewers of Ars Electronica Home Delivery under the motto Cooperative Aesthetics. Ute Hackl’s “Fireworks” causes pulsating circles to appear on the floor of Deep Space 8K. As soon as visitors step on these circles, exploding fireworks rockets are projected onto the wall.

“Ars Electronica Home Delivery” is a weekly program that includes Guided Tours of Ars Electronica exhibitions, excursions to Ars Electronica Labs, visits to the Machine Learning Studio, concerts featuring real-time visualizations, Deep Space LIVE sessions, workshops with engineers and talks with artists and scientists from around the world, as well as offerings for schools, universities and corporations. “Ars Electronica Home Delivery” aims to make the artistic-scientific examination of the future accessible to the widest possible audience.
