Submissions Open for Prix Ars Electronica 2025

(Linz, January 7, 2025) Entries for the Prix Ars Electronica 2025 can be submitted in four categories
from today through Wednesday, March 5, 2025. In addition, there is the Isao Tomita Special Prize and the Ars Electronica Award for Digital Humanity, which is presented jointly with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs.

Founded in 1987 by Hannes Leopoldseder, the Prix Ars Electronica is now the most prestigious and longest-running media art competition in the world. Every year, international media artists submit their work and present themselves to a high-profile jury of experts. The most innovative works in changing categories are awarded the coveted Golden Nicas.

Four Categories and Golden Nicas

In 2025, prizes will be awarded in four categories: New Animation Art, Artificial Life & Intelligence, Digital Musics & Sound Art, and u19-create your world for entrants aged 19 and younger (austria-wide). The winners will each receive a Golden Nica, prize money of 10.000 euros or 3.000 euros (u19) and a prominent appearance at this year’s Ars Electronica Festival in Linz, Austria, September 3-7.

Isao Tomita Special Prize and Award for Digital Humanity

Entrants in the Digital Musics & Sound Art category will also have the chance to win the Isao Tomita Special Prize this year. Sponsored by the TOMITA information Hub, the 5,000 euro prize will be awarded for the third and last time in 2025.

The Ars Electronica Award for Digital Humanity, endowed with 10,000 euros, is presented in cooperation with the Austrian Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs. All entries submitted to this year’s Prix Ars Electronica, the S+T+ARTS Prize, the S+T+ARTS Prize Africa and the European Union Prize for Citizen Science will be considered for the award.

Prix Ars Electronica Award Ceremony 2025

The Prix Ars Electronica Award Ceremony will take place at the Ars Electronica Festival (September 3-7, 2025).
