Humanity is surrounded by invisible networks. They determine our behaviour, guide our trajectories and hold answers for questions we have not asked. They can be made visible through data mining and statistics. Airports act like hubs or portals, connecting our physical bodies to each other across paths that span the planet like threads. Urban realms and cityscapes inhabit corporeal connections through infrastructure, while interwoven social networks are constructed by our virtual entities; invisible tentacles that connect us with other people and nonhuman agents. The human body itself is a complex network of individual cells and genetic interactions, functioning and performing to maintain a homeostatic balance of its individual building blocks. A human spectator shall experience a symbiosis of the visible and the hidden; physical and digital environments are unified through a portrayal of their interrelations in various contexts. The Entangled Realities communicate the diversity of complex systems shaping our human habitat.

Sebastian Pirch is a 3D artist and programmer working at the intersection of digital media technology and science. He studied digital arts at the University of Applied Arts Vienna. His work revolves around the design and development of augmented reality applications and virtual reality analytics platforms in a biomedical context.

Norbert Unfug aka Martin Chiettini is a Vienna based artist who studied digital media at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna, with a focus on creating augmented and virtual realities spanning from experimental interfaces to level design, interactive music, performance art and sculptures.

Christiane V. R. Hütter is a trained computational bioengineer with a background in architecture (Academy of Fine Arts Vienna). She operates at the intersection of designing virtual spaces and biomedical data visualization with a focus on the analytical three dimensional exploration of large-scale biological networks in virtual environments.

Jörg Menche is professor at the University of Vienna, where he holds a dual appointment at the faculty of mathematics and the Max Perutz Labs. His interdisciplinary team combines backgrounds ranging from biology and bioinformatics to medicine, physics, mathematics & arts. The broad ambition of his group is to elucidate the complex machinery of interacting molecules that constitutes the basis of health and disease states.
