Immerse yourself in the first Festival University of Johannes Kepler University and Ars Electronica! In the form of a “Festival Enrollment”, you can experience the Festival University in the context of Ars Electronica 2021 through a selected program.

3 weeks, 100 international students and those technologies that will change the world permanently: The internationally renowned festival for art, technology and society, the Ars Electronica Festival and Upper Austria’s largest educational institution, Johannes Kepler University Linz, are hosting Festival University.

Robotics, brain interfaces, artificial intelligence, digitization, the circular economy or the energy forms of the future: these technologies will change our world. But HOW these topics shape everyday life is in our hands!
Together with top international scientists, e.g. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and other world-leading research institutions, and artists who are usually only known from YouTube, 100 international students are considering, planning and developing ideas for digital transformation:

• What are the great challenges of our time?
• How do we create awareness of the problems and a willingness to find solutions?
• How can we initiate, shape and master change?
• What should our future look like?

It will be discussed and experienced how education in the 21st century can be shaped with digital tools. This pilot project will also – but not only – be implemented against the backdrop of the new technological university in Linz. The Festival University is made possible by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research and the province of Upper Austria. Everything that is developed within the framework of the Festival University should bear long-term fruit and leave lasting traces in Upper Austria.
